Road Re-Construction and Storm Damage Slide Repair on Lower South Fork Road

Project Summary:


Thunder Mountain Enterprises, Inc.
was contracted to install a series of finger drains at the lower portion of the slide just above Lower South Fork Road. The objective of installing the drains was to remove hydrology to stabilize the soil just above the road to prevent any further land movement. The finger drains consisted of a French Drain system using 1600 cubic yards of drain rock and 600 feet of HDPE drain pipe. All together 4000 cubic yards of soil was moved to accomplish the intended results. Final tasks included grading the lower portion of the slide, installing storm water pollution prevention BMPs and reconstructing the road. Thunder Mountain Enterprises, Inc. was able to complete the project within 25 days to the complete satisfaction of the Trinity County DOT.
