A leading cause of deterioration in concrete
decks, steel reinforcement, asphalt pavements, and wood structures
is intrusion of surface water, which causes rust in metal, mildew
and rot in wood products, and deterioration of concrete from electrolytic
transport of waterborne salts. Under asphalt pavements, water softens
the sub-base causing the failure of the paved surface of driveways,
parking lots and asphaltic play courts.
During the 1980's, Dave Smiley developed his expertise
in the manufacturing and application of component applied and preformed
composite impermeable interlayers, while working for the worlds
largest manufacturer of interlayers used in highway and bridge applications.
Industrial strength highway interlayer materials,
technology and installation services are readily available from
TME, for the retrofit or renovation of residential and commercial
pavements, play courts, and parking decks.
